Federal Changes to Medicaid and Food Assistance Programs
Medicaid is the nation’s largest provider of health insurance, covering more than 2.6 million Michigan residents. SNAP, or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as FAP, or the Food Assistance Program in Michigan improves food security and overall well-being for more than 1.4 million low-income individuals in Michigan. These programs are cost-efficient means of ensuring those with the greatest need have access to vital services and nutrition, and are central to Michigan’s economic well-being. Despite their proven success and efficacy, Congress and the current federal administration are seeking major cuts to the Medicaid and SNAP program. Click on the links below to learn more information.
