I-94 closure for bridge demolition in Detroit scheduled for March 28 postponed
March 27, 2025
DETROIT, Mich. - This weekend's planned closure of I-94 in Detroit for bridge demolition has been postponed. Heavy equipment needed for the demolition is currently located in an area affected by seasonal weight restrictions. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will reschedule the removal of the McClellan Avenue overpass above I-94 at a later time.
Originally built in 1957, the McClellan Avenue overpass was closed in March 2024 due to poor structural conditions. The overpass will not be replaced due to the future upgrades to the I-94/M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) interchange.
