US-2 closed west of Escanaba due to pavement damage

ESCANABA, Mich. - Pavement damage from high water has forced the closure of eastbound and westbound US-2 at Portage Creek west of Escanaba in Delta County. 

Motorists should follow a posted detour on Delta County roads.

High water in the creek after recent rains has damaged the east approach to the bridge and undermined pavement.

The road will remain closed until emergency repairs can be made. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will update the public on the timeline for repairs as more information becomes available.
