Puertas Abiertas
Focus Population: Latinx women, men, and their children who are victims of domestic violence, trafficking, stalking, sexual abuse, and discrimination in Kent County with special focus on immigrant women. Expanded to include Men Support Groups and Adolescents Support Group.
Partners: UM Dentistry School, KDL Kent District Library and Literacy Center of WMI, TRIO. Grand Valley State University, EXALTA Health, School of Social Work of Grand Valley State University, and Habitat for Humanity.
- Connects families with community resources such as English classes, housing, financial assistance, GED program, etc.
- Provides support to receive transportation, translation and childcare services, and legal advice.
- Host support groups with sessions for children and adolescents, women, LGBTQ.
- Services are provided by culturally competent advocates who are available on call 24 hours, 7 days a week.
