There are a few online trainings on TB, some of which offer continuing education upon completion. Some of these are also in a PDF guidebook form, that can easily be downloaded and printed.

  • TB 101 for Health Care Workers: This is a web-based course designed to educate health care workers about basic concepts related to TB prevention and control in the United States. The target audience for the course includes newly hired TB program staff and health care workers in areas related to TB (such as individuals who work in correctional facilities or HIV/AIDS clinics).
     
  • Interactive Core Curriculum on Tuberculosis: What the Clinician Should Know: This web-based course provides clinicians and other public health professionals with information on diagnosing and treating latent TB infection and TB disease. The target audience of the course is clinicians caring for people with or at high risk for TB disease.

  • Annual TB Education for Healthcare Personnel (NEW): an overview of TB meant to fulfill the CDC's recommendation that all healthcare personnel complete TB education every year. Please note that the link is to a presentation on how to access the activity and claim CE credit. You will need to follow the steps in the linked set of slides in order to access the activity. 
     
  • Case Studies in Tuberculosis: Nurse Case Management Training Tools for Patient Success: This guidebook offers 12 different case studies to help with successful TB case management and LTBI therapy. This is especially useful after completing either/or “TB 101 for Health Care Workers” and the “Interactive Core Curriculum on Tuberculosis”.
     
  • Self-Study Modules on Tuberculosis: The Self-Study Modules on Tuberculosis are a series of educational modules designed to provide information about TB in a self-study format. The series consists of a total of nine modules that are separated into two courses. The first course, Modules 1-5, provides basic information on TB. The second course, Modules 6-9, provides more specific TB programmatic information.
     
  • TB Centers of Excellence for Training, Education, and Medical Consultation (COE): COEs (formerly known as RTMCCs) are responsible for developing TB education materials, providing training and technical assistance to increase human resource development for TB Programs, and providing medical consultation. Many of the COEs offer webinars monthly. The four COEs are:
  1. Curry International Tuberculosis Center
  2. Mayo Clinic Center for Tuberculosis
  3. Southeastern National Tuberculosis Center
  4. Rutgers Global Tuberculosis Institute (Michigan's)
     
  • Khan Academy: A non-profit educational organization with a goal of creating a set of online tools for easy access to education. They have produced several videos on TB, from topics describing the basics of TB to the treatment of drug-resistant TB.
     
  • TED Talks: TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Independently run TEDx events (like the ones below) help share ideas in communities around the world.
