OIG received a FEE referral in 2023 alleging that a recipient received dual benefits in Michigan and another state. Evidence gathered during the investigation supported that the recipient’s children did not reside with the recipient in Michigan and were not eligible for benefits. The recipient’s benefits case was reduced, resulting in a cost avoidance of $17,676.
