LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Children’s Trust Fund Board of Directors has selected Suzanne Greenberg as the new executive director of the organization that prevents child abuse and neglect.
She will start with the Children’s Trust Fund on March 4, replacing Mike Foley, who is retiring.
Greenberg, of Saginaw, has been president and CEO of the Great Lakes Bay Region Child Abuse and Neglect Council in Saginaw for nearly 25 years. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Children’s Trust Fund.
Children’s Trust Fund Board members selected Greenberg because of her experience leading a nonprofit similar to the Children’s Trust Fund since 1995, her success in fundraising and fund development, and her work advocating for child abuse and neglect prevention at the local, state and national levels.
“Of all of the highly qualified candidates we interviewed, Ms. Greenberg’s experience, knowledge and passion really stood out,” said Randy Richardville, chairperson of the Board of Directors. “We look forward to bringing her to work with our board, staff and partners to continue to move the Trust Fund forward as Michigan’s lead organization in advocacy efforts, education and funding of child abuse and neglect prevention efforts.”
Created by the Michigan Legislature in 1982, the Children’s Trust Fund within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Children’s Services Agency is Michigan’s only statewide nonprofit organization solely dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect. It has raised more than $60 million to support programs that have affected more than 6 million children and families. It pays for services such as respite care, home visitations, child development support and other targeted services allowing local partners around the state to continue to provide education and other prevention programs.
Foley has headed the Children’s Trust Fund since 2009 and is retiring effective March 1.
