Task Force On Elder Abuse Holds Meeting

WHAT: The Michigan Office of Services to the Aging (OSA) is convening a meeting of the Governor’s Task Force on Elder Abuse.
The meeting will focus on financial exploitation through the use of legal financial documents. An overview of financial instruments such as wills, estates, annuities, trusts, transfer on death, and insurance products will be provided. The regulation and oversight of the financial instruments and those who sell them will also be addressed at the meeting. Speakers will highlight recommendations to strengthen regulations, improve suitability of such products, and increase disclosure to consumers.
WHEN: The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2006. It will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.

WHO: Sharon L. Gire, Director of the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging, will be in attendance, along with appointed members of the Task Force.
