Mike DeRose is the director of Human Resources, where he oversees all HR functions for MDHHS, including labor relations, classifications and selections, specialized hiring and recruitment, and compensation, payroll and transactions.
DeRose has more than 18 years’ experience in various human resources roles. He joined MDHHS in 2017 as the classifications and selections manager, and was promoted to director of Human Resources in October 2018. He previously served as the staffing and compensation manager for the Michigan Department of Transportation, and held human resources positions with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and the Michigan Civil Service Commission.
He is a graduate of Michigan State University and holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Western Michigan University.
