State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) presents an opportunity for training in: CHILD WELFARE ESSENTIALS:
A TRAINING FOR CHILD WELFARE PROFESSIONALS IN THE UPPER PENINSULA

When: June 26, 2014 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This training will provide child welfare professionals with an understanding of the current legal framework and best practices for handling child welfare cases, which include using a trauma informed approach for case planning. There will also be a session on case process and planning requirements under the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and the Michigan Indian Family Preservation Act (MIFPA). In the afternoon, participants will attend breakout sessions covering various practice area topics specific to their professional role.

Target Audience: All child welfare professionals, including court staff, jurists, prosecutors, attorneys, LGALs, CPS and foster care workers, tribes, and private agencies.  

There is no registration fee for this training. The training is generously funded by the Michigan Court Improvement Program and the Governor’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect. Lunch will be provided at the training. All other meals, travel, and lodging expenses are the responsibility of the participant.
