2014 Michigan Teen Conference

Lutheran Social Services of Michigan, Michigan Federation for Children and Families, and the Michigan Department of health and Human Services are sponsoring the annual Michigan Teen Conference.
The Michigan Teen Conference is for current and former foster youth 14 – 20 years old, foster parents, foster care workers, and other individuals working with foster youth.
Workshops offered will include topic areas to enhance both caretaker and child welfare professional skills in working with older and transitioning foster youth.
Workshops will include topics such as independent living skills, education and training, funding resources, and employment.
Several current and former foster youth will be present as speakers.

For the first time, you can register on line. Go to www.michfed.org to register youth and chaperones. All payments are due to Lutheran Social Services of Michigan by May 30, 2014. After May 30th, a $25 late fee applies for each registrant.
Cost and Chaperones:
The total conference registration fee is $110. There are additional overnight charges ($25 for one night, $45 for two nights). Payments for youth attendance can be made with YIT funds if the youth is YIT eligible. Foster care and independent living caseworkers can access allocated county YIT funds to pay for a youth’s conference attendance. It is important to get approval from the local county MDHHS as soon as possible for identified youth.
YIT funds can be used for the following chaperone costs: mileage, meals, lodging and $65 of the conference registration fee. The remaining $45 of the conference registration fee must be paid from another appropriate fund source.
