Our Office of Faith Engagement is committed to promoting collaboration between state departments and faith and community based agencies to improve the quality of life for Michigan residents.
Clergy Partnerships
We are establishing relationships with faith-based and community organizations across the state. In doing so, we expand our outreach to hundreds of congregations and the thousands of people they reach out to through a variety of outlets.
Currently our efforts are focused on veterans, employment, foster care and adoption, child welfare and hunger.

Bill Hardiman, director of the Office of Faith Engagement for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, taught political science at Grand Rapids Community College.
Bill was elected to the Michigan Senate in November 2002 representing the cities of Grand Rapids, Kentwood and Lowell and the townships of Cascade, Lowell, Vergennes and Grattan. He served in the Michigan Senate until 2010 when he reached term limits.
He served as mayor of the city of Kentwood from 1992-2002. He also served on the board of directors for the Grand Rapids Transit Authority, Gerald R. Ford Council of Boy Scouts of America, Grand Rapids Housing Center, Michigan Municipal League, United Way of Kent County, Spectrum Health Services, Grand Valley Metropolitan Council, Kentwood Foundation, Grand Bank, Crime Victim Foundation, Grand Valley State University Foundation, Right Place Program and The Dove Foundation.
Hardiman holds a master's degree in public administration from Western Michigan University, a bachelor's degree from Grand Valley State University, and an associate's degree from Grand Rapids Community College.
