Perinatal Oral Health
Are you pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant?
Check out three BIG reasons why your mouth matters!
1. Some studies show that periodontal disease (gum disease) may be a contributing factor for preterm birth.
If you are thinking of becoming pregnant or expecting a child; it is not only safe, but important that you see a dental professional.
2. You can pass the germs that cause cavities to your infant child.
If you or your child's caregiver have oral health problems, try to avoid sharing utensils or "cleaning" pacifiers with your mouth. Your cavity causing germs are transferred through saliva.
3. By making changes and working towards a healthy mouth by brushing, flossing, eating healthy foods and seeing the dentist regularly, you can pass on these healthy habits to your child as they grow.
Tooth decay is the most prominent chronic health condition among children in the United States.
