Where can I find my Health Liaison Officer (HLO) or MichiCANS Health Liaison Officer (MichiCANS HLO)?
There are two types of Health Liaison Officers (HLOs) - one is called the Health Liaison Officer, and the other is called the MichiCANS Health Liaison Officer. These two types of HLOs are responsible for different primary duties as listed below. HLOs are assigned to a county, or number of counties depending on the local/regional population of children in foster care. The Health Liaison Officer working with your county may have their base in a county nearby.
Health Liaison Officer (HLO)
MichiCANS Health Liaison Officer (MichiCANS HLO)
The primary role of the MichiCANS HLO is to administer a MichiCANS screener for children in foster care. The MichiCANS screener helps with timely and appropriate behavioral health referrals to Community Mental Health Services Programs and Medicaid Health Plans.
*The MichiCANS HLO may also back up the HLO to carry out their functions.
