Dylan Secord, Clinical Social Worker at DEAF C.A.N.! interviews Kathleen Mitchell, a Social Worker with extensive experience in the Deaf, Deaf-Blind and Hard-of-Hearing communities. Together, they discuss the importance of addressing mental health in the Deaf community, including current issues caused by the impact of Covid-19. The two also discuss the importance for the Deaf community of establishing access to helpful resources and how they can be assisted remotely during the pandemic.
Dylan Secord, Clinical Social Worker at DEAF C.A.N.! interviews Leslie Pertz, MSW, LMSW, BEI ll Certified ASL interpreter who works for the Michigan Medicine clinic in Dexter. Together, they discuss this unique and valuable practice, which also staffs two Deaf Doctors. The conversation addresses Ms. Pertz expertise in Eye Movement Desensitization and Processing (EMDR) along with the importance of communication in mental health - and general health - for Deaf people.
