Public meeting May 6 in Plainfield Township to discuss this year's M-44 Connector project

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hosting a public meeting on Tuesday, May 6, to discuss this year's planned $4.6 million investment to rebuild 2.7 miles of the M-44 Connector (Plainfield Avenue) from I-96 to Airway Street. MDOT officials will provide current project details, scheduling information and expected traffic impacts. Plainfield Township and City of Grand Rapids representatives will also be at the meeting to provide information on their projects in the area. The public is invited to stop by anytime during the meeting to learn more about the projects, provide comments and ask questions.

"Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely," said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. "By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime. This year, let's build on our momentum to pass a bipartisan local road funding plan so we can keep fixing our damn roads and creating good-paying, local jobs."
