M-46 work in Sanilac County delayed until Feb 20 due to heavy snow

SAGINAW, Mich. -Due to recent heavy snowfall, work that was originally scheduled to begin today on M-46 east of Sandusky in Sanilac County has been postponed. Work is now anticipated to start on Thursday, Feb. 20.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin the next phase of an overall $26.4 investment to rebuild and improve M-46 in Sanilac County on Wednesday. This phase of the two-year project will include resurfacing M-46 from the Sandusky east city limit to the Carsonville west village limit and replacing the M-46 bridge over the Black River. Work in 2024 included rebuilding M-46 in the city of Sandusky, replacing storm sewer, upgrading traffic signals, replacing curbs, upgrading sidewalks, and safety improvements, as well as improving M-19 in the city of Sandusky.

Traffic restrictions:
M-46 will be closed in both directions. Traffic will be detoured from Ruth Road to Forester Road and Maple Grove Road. The carpool lot on M-46 east of Ruth Road will be closed during this work.
