Coal Ash Facilities License to Operate a Solid Waste Disposal Area Application Review Process
On December 28, 2018, Public Act (PA) 640 was signed into law and was enacted as an amendment to Part 115 Solid Waste Management, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended, (Part 115).
The amendment also added provisions to regulate surface impoundments used for storage and/or disposal of Coal Ash that require a Solid Waste Disposal Operating License (License) for continued operation of the facility.
The Materials Management Division receives the License applications for facilities that have Coal Ash operations; When a license application is received for these facilities, the information will be listed here.
