M-46 resurfacing, bridge replacement begins Feb. 17 east of Sandusky

SAGINAW, Mich. -The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin the next phase of an overall $26.4 investment to rebuild and improve M-46 in Sanilac County.
This phase of the two-year project will include resurfacing M-46 from the Sandusky east city limit to the Carsonville west village limit and replacing the M-46 bridge over the Black River. Work in 2024 included rebuilding M-46 in the city of Sandusky, replacing storm sewer, upgrading traffic signals, replacing curbs, upgrading sidewalks, and safety improvements, as well as improving M-19 in the city of Sandusky.

Traffic restrictions:
M-46 will be closed in both directions. Traffic will be detoured from Ruth Road to Forester Road and Maple Grove Road. The carpool lot on M-46 east of Ruth Road will be closed during this work.
