MDOT's multi-faceted programs touch every area of department, as well as the private and public sectors throughout the state of Michigan. Civil rights, tribal affairs, planning, research, and grant programs ensure we are maintaining and improving our transportation systems in a responsible and equitable manner, so we can serve and connect people, communities, and the economy.

External Civil Rights

MDOT is committed to supporting contractors, consultants and sub-recipients in achieving full compliance with civil rights laws and requirements.

Grant Programs

MDOT provides funding for competitive grant and loan programs primarily, but not exclusively, for state and local road agencies for the greatest impact on economic development and job creation.

Bridges & Structures is responsible for statewide policy, development, and execution to ensure bridges/structures are designed, constructed, maintained, and operated to ensure safety.

Planning

Transportation Planning develops and implements a comprehensive transportation planning process which results in investments that are consistent with the policies of the State Transportation Commission.
