How can I submit a FOIA request?
The Michigan Freedom of Information Act, Public Act 442 of 1976, as amended (FOIA) regulates and sets requirements for the disclosure of public records by all public bodies. FOIA provides all persons (except persons incarcerated in correctional facilities) with access to these records.
EGLE offices are open for onsite record review by appointment only. Records responsive to FOIA requests continue to be provided via electronic means, in the EGLE FOIA Request Center. For additional information about how to interact with the EGLE FOIA Request Center, view the Guide for Requesters or if you are already familiar with the EGLE FOIA Request Center, go straight to the EGLE FOIA Request Center FAQs.
Requests to inspect or receive public records from EGLE must be in writing and describe the requested records with enough detail to enable the department to identify and locate the requested records.
