Dale George

Communications Director

Dale George is director of communications for the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE).

He oversees the Office of Public Information which is tasked with communicating to Michiganders the great work happening every day at EGLE as we drive forward our mission to protect our state’s environment and public health by managing air, water, land, and energy resources.

Before joining the team at EGLE, Dale served as the senior communications advisor in the Executive Office of the Governor.

Previously, he served in various roles at Michigan State Police, including as manager of the Training, Exercise and Radiological Unit in the Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division and as the division’s public information officer, where he led the State of Michigan, Joint Information Center through several emergency and disaster responses.

Prior to joining state government, Dale spent 16 years serving as a capitol reporter covering politics in Illinois and Michigan.

He holds a master’s degree in Public Affairs Reporting from the University of Illinois and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Western Illinois University.
