Nonpoint Source Implementation RFP FY 2025

The application period for this grant opportunity is now closed. EGLE received 17 proposals seeking over $6.3 million in State and Federal funding. The review process is now underway, and we anticipate awarding funding to selected projects in the summer of 2025.

The information below may be useful for applying for future rounds of implementation funding as our process is similar year to year.

The Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) requested proposals to implement priority recommendations in critical areas from approved watershed management plans. Under this RFP, about $2.9 million in state and federal funding is expected to be available for nonpoint source control projects. The timeline, application and award processes were similar to previous years.  The RFP, appendices, and all forms and instructions are linked below for informational purposes.

Projects are anticipated to be awarded in Summer 2025.

Eligible applicants include nonprofits that are tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, local units of government (such as state agencies; tribal entities, county, city, township, and village entities; regional planning agencies; Conservation Districts), and Michigan colleges and universities. Applicants must also supply proof of a successful audit at the time of the full application.

Eligible watersheds are watersheds covered by a watershed management plan approved as meeting state and federal guidance, tribal areas, and communities with Environmental Justice impacts.

Eligible activities include implementing priority recommendations to address nonpoint sources of pollution in critical or priority areas as designated in an approved watershed management plan and watershed planning and capacity building in communities with Environmental Justice concerns and tribal areas.

Two Webinars were hosted by Nonpoint Source Program staff to explain the Nonpoint Source Program, the application process, and new guidance.
