The Michigan Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) provides all persons (except persons incarcerated in correctional facilities) with access to public records of public bodies. Requests to inspect or receive public records from EGLE must be in writing and describe the requested records with enough detail to enable the department to identify and locate the requested records. Some records are exempt from disclosure under the FOIA or another statute and thus will not be provided. A fee may be charged to process your request. Please note that many records are available that do not require a formal FOIA request.

General Permit for Aquatic Nuisance Control Activities for Ponds – The General Permit issued by the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) for aquatic nuisance control activities in ponds. In order to have authorization to chemically treat waters of the state under this General Permit, a Certificate of Coverage (COC) must be issued by the EGLE for qualifying sites.
Before applying for a Certificate of Coverage (COC) for your pond, please read the applicable General Permit and any amendment(s) listed in the table below thoroughly to determine if the treatment options you seek are covered. In order to have authorization to chemically treat waters of the state under this General Permit, a Certificate of Coverage (COC) must be issued by EGLE for qualifying sites.
Before applying for a COC for your project, please read the applicable General Permit and any amendment(s) listed in the table below thoroughly to determine if the treatment options you seek are covered. For this General Permit, there is no pre-approved candidate list. Any site that fulfills the criteria outlined in the General Permit may qualify for a COC. In addition, please determine if plants targeted for control are listed on the Non-native Species List below.
