Utilities and the Home Energy Rebates

EGLE will work closely with utilities while implementing the Home Energy Rebates program.

Utilities can partner with EGLE in the following ways:

Searching for files

To evaluate energy savings, utilities can share customer usage data with EGLE, which will be used to determine pre-installation and post-installation energy consumption levels.

Currently, EGLE is drafting a Data Access Plan in consultation with utilities, which will be submitted to DOE for approval.

Dollar bills fanned out

EGLE and utilities can both commit funding to different measure upgrades within the same household. This approach will enable both EGLE and utilities to spend less funding per household while achieving energy savings.

In turn, this will allow more households across the state to receive funding.

A single chat bubble

EGLE and utilities can coordinate to refer prospective applicants to appropriate programs. For instance, utilities can refer customers eligible for Michigan’s Home Energy Rebates program to EGLE to receive rebate funding.

Additionally, EGLE can refer prospective applicants who are ineligible for rebate funding to utility programs.
