The Michigan Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) provides all persons (except persons incarcerated in correctional facilities) with access to public records of public bodies. Requests to inspect or receive public records from EGLE must be in writing and describe the requested records with enough detail to enable the department to identify and locate the requested records. Some records are exempt from disclosure under the FOIA or another statute and thus will not be provided. A fee may be charged to process your request. Please note that many records are available that do not require a formal FOIA request.

The Agriculture and Rural Communities Energy Roadmap was designed to analyze the effectiveness of current energy policies and programs for Michigan's agriculture and rural communities and to create a roadmap that would inform policy makers and program implementers of recommended policies and programs that encourage energy efficiency and renewable energy.
The Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Roadmap for Michigan is a collaborative effort among state and regional partners to optimize CHP adoption based on significant stakeholder input. The overall project goal was to create a multifaceted, cohesive, replicable program to develop and deploy consensus based solutions for accelerating CHP deployment in Michigan
The Energy Storage Roadmap for Michigan was created to determine how best to enable the deployment and growth of energy storage in Michigan and as a guide for policy makers in order to achieve the level of energy storage deployment necessary to support Michigan's future grid. This Roadmap includes immediate, short-term (1 to 5 years), and long-term (>5 years) policy recommendations for the Governor/executive branch agencies, Michigan Public Service Commission, and Michigan Legislature.
This report presents the opinions of Michigan's local government leaders regarding a variety of energy issues and policies in their jurisdictions, including the relevance of particular energy policies for their communities, whether the jurisdiction has staff or external consultants devoted to energy issues, energy audits in government facilities, barriers to local energy policymaking, and more. These findings are based on statewide surveys of local government leaders conducted in the Fall 2019 Michigan Local Energy Survey (MiLES), a special wave of the Michigan Public Policy Survey.
The State Energy Program has taken steps to develop a DC fast charging network for worry-free electric vehicle (EV) travel throughout Michigan by 2030. The project, driven by stakeholders, takes an analytical approach to optimizing placement of EV charging stations statewide with minimal investment cost and user delay.
The Clean Energy Roadmap is a collaborative effort between Michigan and Northeast Ohio to accelerate the region's clean energy sector. The overall project goal was to identify and advance energy efficiency building technologies, products, services and clean energy manufacturing in the region.
Rental housing policy is key to both advancing equity outcomes in Michigan and meeting the state's ambitious climate goals. The recommended actions outlined in this report serve to advance equity and environmental outcomes in Michigan's rental housing sector while supporting, strengthening, and scaling the pioneering work of Michigan cities already leading rental policy development across the state.
The UP Energy Waste Reduction Roadmap is designed as a starting point for conversations between U.P. stakeholders, including utilities, program implementers, local government representatives, businesses, residents, and others, to identify ways to increase potential benefits of EWR program portfolios by capturing delivery efficiencies, expanding the reach of existing and future programs, and leveraging the local EWR investments.
