The Michigan Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) provides all persons (except persons incarcerated in correctional facilities) with access to public records of public bodies. Requests to inspect or receive public records from EGLE must be in writing and describe the requested records with enough detail to enable the department to identify and locate the requested records. Some records are exempt from disclosure under the FOIA or another statute and thus will not be provided. A fee may be charged to process your request. Please note that many records are available that do not require a formal FOIA request.

Solar for Savings is the first grant program under the MI Healthy Climate Challenge, funding MI Solar for All pilot projects to reduce energy costs, enhance resiliency, and expand access to solar for low-income households.
With $156 million in federal funding, the MI Solar for All Program aims to bring solar energy to low-income communities, delivering economic and environmental benefits while ensuring equitable access.
Through the Solar for Savings initiative, these pilot projects will test innovative approaches, accelerate solar adoption across Michigan, and contribute to the development of the broader MI Solar for All Program. By expanding access to renewable energy, particularly through residential and community solar, these pilots will play a vital role in advancing Michigan’s clean energy transition.
Expanding access to renewable energy is key to achieving the goals of the MI Healthy Climate Plan. These pilot projects will help ensure all Michiganders benefit from clean energy by improving air quality, increasing resilience, creating jobs, and lowering energy bills. By removing barriers to solar adoption, Solar for Savings advances the broader mission of the MI Healthy Climate Challenge to accelerate clean energy deployment statewide.

Any application submitted before the relevant review deadline will be considered in that particular review round. Awards will be granted on a first come, first served basis.
