Northbound US-23 concrete repairs start April 6 in Genesee County

DAVISON, Mich. -The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $1.4 million to perform concrete pavement repairs on 5.4 miles of northbound US-23 from the Livingston County line to Thompson Road in Fenton. Work includes full-depth concrete repairs, outlet cleaning and pavement markings.

Traffic restrictions:
Single-lane closures will be in place Sunday - Thursday each week throughout the project.

The northbound US-23 entrance and exit ramps at Owen Road (Exit 78) will be closed.

  • Exiting traffic will be detoured via Silver Lake Road Exit 79 and either southbound Silver Parkway or southbound Fenway Drive to reach Owen Road.
  • Owen Road traffic heading for northbound US-23 can take either northbound Silver Parkway or northbound Fenway Drive to Silver Lake Road to enter the highway.

Future ramp closures for the northbound US-23 exits to Silver Lake Road (Exit 79) and Torrey Road (Exit 80) will occur during the second stage of the project beginning April 20. These closures are weather-dependent. These ramps will be detoured via Owen Road Exit 78 to Silver Parkway and Fenway Drive.

Additional closures will be announced at a later date.

Jobs numbers:
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 13 jobs.

This work will also provide drivers with fresh pavement markings and a smoother, safer driving surface.
