I-94/M-40 Interchange Reconstruction Study
Start: October 2019 End: July 2026
What Is Being Done?
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is planning to replace the M-40 bridge over I-94 in Van Buren County in 2025. A transportation study that was started in October 2019 examined bridges, culverts, and storm sewer in preparation of determining road and bridge improvements for 3 miles of I-94 and 3 miles of M-40. Interchange alternatives were developed and prioritized in consideration of public input, traffic and safety modeling, environmental impacts, and estimated cost. The final report has been posted.
