January 27, 2025
LANSING, Mich. – Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) Director Tim Boring today announced changes within his communications team.
Jennifer Holton, APR, who previously served as Communications Director, is now MDARD’s Chief Emergency Communications Officer. In this role, Holton will lead the department in all emergency communications. Holton joined MDARD in 2004 and has served as Communications Director since 2007.
“MDARD has long prioritized robust emergency management capacity, which has proven essential in our department’s response to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza and other developing issues,” said Director Boring. “Jennifer’s deep expertise in this new position further elevates MDARD’s response capability and is an important investment in proactive assistance to producers during challenging times.”
With the change, Lynsey Mukomel joined MDARD in a newly created position as Executive Director of Communications. She previously served as the Communications Director for the Office of Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin and Press Secretary for the Michigan Department of Attorney General. Mukomel’s background is in broadcast news. She started her career at 9&10 News before joining WOOD-TV 8 as an anchor and reporter.
“Lynsey brings a unique skillset to this new role, enabling us to continue delivering for Michigan through our department’s priorities of resiliency, diversity, and economic prosperity,” said Director Boring. “Michigan agriculture has a bright future and I’m looking forward to Lynsey’s leadership in telling that story.”
