Description:
West Michigan Geology and Forest Soils will be held at the Oceana Conservation District Office, 1064 Industrial Park Dr., Shelby on Saturday, March 8 from 10am-noon.
Special guest speakers Dr. Patrick Colgan and Professor of Geology, GVSU will be doing the geology and soils presentations. Dr. Colgan will be outlining what we know about the geologic history of our Lake Michigan lakeshore over the last 20,000 years as well as the human-driven processes of today and how they have formed the sediments and landforms of our area. He will also review his work with the Michigan Geological Survey to complete geological and resource maps and more.
Oceana District Forester Rod Denning will provide a forest health update and explain the advantages of the Michigan Qualified Forest Program. Oceana MAEAP Technician Lynda Herremans will give a short presentation about the MAEAP Forest, Wetland and Habitat System.
