UIA's Detroit Local Office will close until fall for renovations
April 24, 2025
Temporary location opens in Cadillac Place building to serve claimants
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency’s (UIA) Local Office in Detroit will close temporarily beginning Monday, April 28, 2025, for renovations that will create a more welcoming, secure, and efficient experience for Michiganders who schedule in-person appointments for information about their jobless claim.
While renovations are underway at the UIA’s first floor office at Cadillac Place, 3024 W. Grand Blvd., in the New Center area, a temporary office has been set up across the lobby in Cadillac Place where staff will serve workers in person. Appointments are required for in-person service.
What to expect
- Renovations of the Local Office are expected to be completed in the fall of 2025.
- Once completed, the office will have a reconfigured public area and security upgrades.
- Workers who have scheduled appointments will receive a text message reminder with the address of the temporary UIA office in Cadillac Place.
- The temporary closure will not affect phone or virtual appointments with UIA staff, which can be scheduled online.
Those needing help with their claim during the office renovation can still schedule in-person appointments at the temporary location by clicking on the Schedule an Appointment link at Michigan.gov/UIA. Appointments can be scheduled up to 14 days in advance.
Detroit is one of five Local Offices to be renovated, with work having been completed at the Grand Rapids, Lansing, Saginaw, and Sterling Heights locations. The changes are part of the UIA’s focus on improving the customer experience and creating a national model for fast, fair, and fraud-free service.
