April 07, 2025
Position serves MiSTEM’s Mid-Michigan region, covering Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Ionia and Shiawassee Counties
LANSING, Mich.— The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) announced today that Lisa Seigel has been named Region 7 Mid-Michigan director for the MiSTEM Network, which strives to make STEM learning more accessible across the state and position more Michigan students for career success.
“MiSTEM regional directors play an essential role in preparing the next generation of innovators for high-wage, high-demand STEM careers,” said Megan Schrauben, MiSTEM executive director. “As the new Region 7 director, Lisa will coordinate efforts in our Mid-Michigan hub to advance the statewide PK-12 STEM strategy. I am confident her leadership will help us continue to build a strong STEM ecosystem in Michigan as we empower students for a bright future."
Seigel has extensive experience advancing education from in the classroom to leadership positions across the state. This includes more than eight years with the Michigan Department of Education, where she served in various roles to support career and technical education, career readiness and the promotion and growth of PK-20 programs. Most recently, Seigel was with the Eaton Regional Education Service Agency as the director of early college and assistant principal for career and technical education programs. This work included supporting the day-to-day operations of career and technical education programs, oversight and development of early college postsecondary partnerships and offering professional development activities in alignment with the school district’s strategic plan. She received an associate degree in business administration from Lansing Community College, a bachelor’s degree in business leadership from Baker College of Owosso, and a master’s degree in business administration from Baker Center for Graduate Studies in Flint.
In her new role with MiSTEM, Seigel will utilize her experience to build collaborative partnerships that align regional activities to the statewide STEM strategy. She will also identify and coordinate resources to support regional STEM stakeholders and activities in the Mid-Michigan region.
“I look forward to working with educators, industry leaders and community partners to create meaningful STEM opportunities for students in Region 7,” said Lisa Seigel. “With my experience and community connections, I’m eager to strengthen pathways between K-12 and postsecondary education, helping students prepare for the high-demand careers of the future.”
As one of 16 regional hubs focused on identifying and addressing STEM education needs across the state, Region 7 supports Clinton County RESA, Eaton RESA, Ingham County ISD, Ionia ISD and Shiawassee RESD.
“We are excited to welcome Lisa as she steps up to serve our communities as Region 7 director for the MiSTEM Network,” said Dr. Scott Koenigsknecht, Clinton County Regional Education Service Agency (CCRESA) superintendent. “We are confident Lisa’s extensive experience and skills will advance the statewide STEM strategy in our region.”
