Michigan Energy Measures Database

The Michigan Energy Measures Database (MEMD) was supplied by Morgan Marketing Partners as a basis for development of initial energy efficiency savings calculations and potential savings for energy efficiency programs. The MEMD was purchased by natural gas and electric providers in Michigan and is now maintained by Integral Analytics.  Providers use this tool in the development of energy optimization (EO) plans, which include energy waste reduction (EWR) plans and may include efficient electrification (EFEL) plans.  Section 71 of Act 295 of 2008, as amended, describes the required components of EO plans.

The users of the data are intended to be involved in Michigan EO, EWR, and EFEL programs, services, and activities, including program planners, regulatory reviewers and planners, utility and regulatory forecasters, and consultants supporting utility and regulatory research and evaluation efforts.

The objectives of the MEMD:

  • Provide users with accurate information on technologies or measures that could be used in an energy efficiency program and for integrated resource planning (IRP).
  • Provide measures customized for Michigan specific weather and loads.
  • Allow for consistent application of information across Michigan for energy efficiency planning and goal measurement.
  • Support standardization across Michigan, expedite evaluation, measurement, and verification (EM&V), and increase transparency in reporting, calibration, and reconciliation.
  • Document assumptions and Michigan-specific parameters for savings calculations.
