The Michigan Public Service Commission’s Affordability, Alignment and Assistance subcommittee/workgroup will be meeting the first Tuesday of each month at 1pm EST through September 2025. You can find past information, including presentations and meeting recordings on the AAA subcommittee page of the Commission’s website and review the order from the Commission on 12/21/2023 addressing the work of the subcommittee in the U-20757 case docket.
In 2025, the AAA subcommittee will be working to fulfill its Commission directives to evaluate and make recommendations regarding Percentage of Income Payment Plan pilots as well as the utilities’ fulfillment of the statute MCL 460.11(2), which authorizes the Commission to establish low-income rates. The current fulfillment of this statute are the Residential Income Assistance credits and Low-Income Assistance credits. Most if not all investor-owned utilities offer one or both credits.
