Author Tour, Night for Notables Celebration Highlight 2025 Michigan Notable Books

LANSING – Fifty Michigan libraries will host authors whose works were honored as 2025 Michigan Notable Books, the Library of Michigan announced.

The 2025 Michigan Notable Books Author Tour will be held from April through June. In addition to the author tour, another way to connect with the 2025 Michigan Notable Books authors is the annual Night for Notables celebration on Saturday, April 26, at the Library of Michigan.

The Michigan Notable Books program annually selects 20 of the most outstanding books published in the previous calendar year that reflect Michigan's diverse ethnic, historical, literary, and cultural experiences.

“Connecting authors with people across Michigan is one of the great aspects of the Michigan Notable Books program, especially in communities that don’t always have the opportunity to meet with high-caliber writers,” said State Librarian Mr. Randy Riley. “It’s wonderful to hear the conversations at these author events as each title celebrates the uniqueness of life in Michigan.”

Author tour events will cover locations across both peninsulas of Michigan, to offer opportunities for many Michiganders to participate. A full list of author tour programs is available at Michigan.gov/NotableBooks.

“As an educator and promoter of literacy and reading, I appreciate the Michigan Notable Books Author Tour and the annual Night for Notables,” said State Superintendent Dr. Michael F. Rice. “The Library of Michigan does a great job, and these events in collaboration with our partners are wonderful ways to show off the diverse group of authors that we have right here in Michigan.”

The Night for Notables event will feature writer, producer, and director Curtis Chin as the keynote speaker. Chin’s 2023 book “Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant: A Memoir” was honored as one of the 2024 Michigan Notable Books selections. Attendees can meet with Notable authors throughout the celebration.
