MRS helps high school students find first job
February 05, 2025
After graduating from Warren Woods Tower High School, Makayla struggled with the transition from high school to the workforce and faced challenges with finding her first job. Makayla’s journey was even more significant because of a learning disability that made the job search process feel more over overwhelming.
With unwavering determination and the right support from MRS in place, Makayla overcame her obstacles and found a job as a childcare worker at the School-Age Child Care (SACC) program.
With the help of the SACC program's inclusive work environment, and support from her counselor and job placement specialist, Makayla was able to showcase her strengths — patience, kindness and dedication to helping others. Her colleagues and supervisors quickly noticed her natural ability to connect with the children, and her positive attitude has made her a valuable team member.
Makayla’s hard work and commitment allowed her to build the confidence she needed to excel in her role. From developing routine tasks to learning new skills on the job, she has shown incredible growth in both her professional and personal life.
Today, Makayla stands proud of her achievements, knowing that her first job is not just a milestone, but a steppingstone to even greater opportunities. Her story is a powerful reminder that with the right support and a belief in one’s abilities, anything is possible.
