MTI Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
I already have an OSHA card. Can I receive credit towards a Level One certificate?
Yes. Prior learning credit is available for OSHA cards that are less than three years old. For more information, contact Macomb Community College (MCC) at mti@macomb.edu or 586-498-4106.
Are online courses eligible for scholarships?
No. Online courses are not eligible for scholarships. However, in-person and virtual instructor-led seminars are. More information on MTI learning formats.
Can I register for only the courses I need in a boot camp to finish a certificate?
No. Students cannot “pick and choose” courses from a boot camp. Boot camps are designed for those committed to attending all the courses necessary to earn a certificate in a compressed timeframe.
Can I attend Level Two courses before finishing my Level One certificate?
Yes. Courses may be taken in any order. However, a Level One certificate must be achieved prior to the award of a Level Two compliance certificate. Additionally, a Level One or Occupational Health certificate must be achieved prior to the award of a Level Two Safety and Health Management Systems certificate. More information on the MTI Certificate Program.
Will I receive a copy of the seminar presentation?
Yes. Student materials are provided by the seminar’s cosponsor in electronic format via email. While not required, students may download and/or print the materials. No hard copy of the student materials will be provided at the seminar. If you have not received your student materials link within three days of the seminar, please contact the seminar’s cosponsor directly.
I need to leave a seminar early. Can I still receive my certificate of attendance?
No. A certificate of attendance is awarded to those who attend the entire seminar.
Do seminars provide continuing education units?
Yes. MCC awards continuing education units (CEUs) based on contact hours. CEUs are listed on the certificate of attendance and your student transcript, which is available through MCC at https://wce.macomb.edu.
Are there any timeframe requirements for completing a certificate?
Yes. A Level One certificate must be completed within three years from the first course attended in the track. The Occupational Health and Level Two certificates do not have a timeframe requirement.
After finishing the required and elective courses, is there an application I must complete to receive my certificate?
Yes. To receive a certificate, a progress log/application form must be submitted to MCC via email at mti@macomb.edu.
