Echo Point Shooting Range
The Echo Point Shooting Range has been closed for the winter season and will remain closed until June 27, 2025, to allow for construction projects aimed at improving accessibility and shooting structures. The site is gated and will be posted closed until June 27 or further notice.
Range improvements include upgraded accessible walkways and reconstruction of earthen berms and target line structures. The berm work will allow the previously closed 10-yard pistol range to reopen.
An alternative shooting location is the DNR Barry County Shooting Range, will open for the season Thursday, April 24, and the hours will be Thursday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Effective in January 2025, all Department of Natural Resources-staffed shooting ranges (Barry County, Dansville, Echo Point, Lapeer, Ortonville, Pontiac Lake, Rose Lake and Sharonville):
- Will operate on the same hours on days open, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Will be closed the first Thursday of each month, except October and November.
- Will be closed for State of Michigan holidays on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.

Once the construction project is completed (late June ), the range will operate under the following hours.
10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Last shot fired at 4:45 p.m.
Oct. 1-31: Wednesday through Monday (closed Tuesday)*
Nov. 1-15: every day*
Nov. 16-Sept. 30: Thursday through Monday (closed Tuesday and Wednesday)*

Offerings
Outdoor rifle/handgun range
- Four stations at 10 yards.
- Four stations at 25 yards.
- Four stations at 100 yards.
Visitors need to bring their own targets. Targets can be attached to rubber conveyor belts. Either tape or a staple gun is needed to secure targets to the target backing (tape and staple guns are not provided). Note that .50-caliber BMG and larger centerfire rifles and muzzleloaders larger than .80-caliber are prohibited.
