Katie Giardello

Transfer Success Project Manager

Katie Giardello joined MiLEAP as Transfer Success Project Manager in December 2024. She previously served as Senior Policy Advisor for ASAP (Accelerated Study in Academic Programs) Replication with the City University of New York (CUNY) where she led the national CUNY ASAP replication strategy. Prior to working remotely for CUNY, she served in multiple roles with the Michigan Community College Association’s Center for Student Success for nearly 7 years. In these roles she led several high-impact statewide transfer projects, most notably the state’s MiTransfer Pathways project and efforts to align military training and education with academic programs to facilitate credit for prior learning for student veterans. She’s also worked at Eastern Michigan University, the Ohio Department of Higher Education, and The Ohio State University. She earned her Ph.D. from Western Michigan University where her dissertation focused on the organizational system of transfer articulation at a Midwestern regional public university. She earned both her M.A. in Higher Education Policy and Leadership and B.S. in Human Ecology from The Ohio State University. She lives on a historic homestead in Chelsea, Michigan with her spouse and two active sons.
