Data Sharing Center

The Michigan Office of Higher Education is committed to the utilization of meaningful data to drive policy decisions. We maintain data transparency in our management of state-funded scholarship programs, as well as in progress tracking towards our postsecondary attainment goals, to ensure equitable access to educational pathways to success for all our students regardless of age, income, race/ethnicity, or where they live.

College Costs

Michigan continues to invest in programs that make a college degree or skill certificate more affordable for students. Below are data resources from our partners at the Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI), Michigan House Fiscal Agency, and the U.S. Department of Education that provide a snapshot of the cost of attending a college or university in Michigan, and how our colleges and universities compare relative to the rest of the nation.

State Scholarship Awards

The Michigan Office of Higher Education administers nearly $1 Billion in state appropriations for scholarship programs and serves almost 130,000 students across the state of Michigan each year. Take a look at the list of scholarship and grant programs offered by the state of Michigan.

The Office of Higher Education maintains dashboards to provide data transparency in tracking participation in and impact of the largest state-funded scholarship programs.

To view total students served and total aid awarded for each scholarship program administered by the Office of Higher Education, review the annual report for prior academic years. For a year-over-year breakdown of student aid utilization by school, school district, legislative district, region, or demographic, visit the Postsecondary State-Funded Student Aid Dashboard.

MCAN - Michigan FAFSA Tracker

FAFSA Completion

To access state and federal student financial aid programs, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Michigan receives FAFSA data from Federal Student Aid (FSA) and compiles information regarding the number of students that have either submitted or completed a FAFSA. We partner with the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) to track FAFSA submission status of graduating seniors at each of Michigan’s public high schools.
