Joe Sbar is a school psychologist with the Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District and an adjunct professor at Lake Superior State University. Upon graduating from Michigan State University, Joe began his career with the Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District in 2011. Joe established himself as a systems-level innovator, contributing to local, state, and national initiatives to support student achievement and mental health. Joe is best known for his work in supporting implementation of regional and district-level multi-tiered systems of support, leading crisis responses, implementing concussion assessment and management systems, and promoting the field of school psychology to address recruitment shortages. For his accomplishments, he was awarded the State of Michigan's highest honor, the School Psychologist of the Year award, in 2021.
