Ryan started at WATS as an intern in 2002. After graduating from Eastern Michigan University, Ryan joined the full-time staff, focusing on travel demand modeling. Since then Ryan has been exposed to all facets of local transportation planning and been involved in the development of three Long Range Transportation Plans for Washtenaw County. In 2006, Ryan led the effort for a countywide non-motorized plan which resulted in policy changes and an increased focus on multi-modal investment in the area. In 2011, Ryan led the development of a Complete Streets Plan and tool box for local communities. The WATS Policy Committee appointed Ryan Director of WATS in 2013.

As a proud Ann Arbor Pioneer graduate, Ryan enjoys traveling, running and maps and finding creative ways to combine them such as carrying a GPS on a marathon (which he won) through the Namib desert. Prior to working at WATS, he proudly served the community, pouring coffee and scooping ice cream at the Washtenaw Dairy from 1994-2003.  He lives in Ann Arbor with his wife, Allison, and sons, Maddox and Weston.
