Peace Neighborhood Center
Peace Neighborhood Center
Founded in 1971, Peace Neighborhood Center is a community-based nonprofit with a 52-year history of successfully helping thousands of youth, adults & families improve their lives. The agency’s mission is to provide programs and services that help youth, families, and adults who are affected by social and economic challenges—and help them discover options, enhance their skills, and make choices that lead to self-sufficiency and positive community involvement. Through an integrated range of programming and services, Peace provides in-depth wraparound support. Peace has a long-standing history of collaborating with community partners and stakeholders to be able to amplify the reach and impact of its programs. All together, Peace’s Ann Arbor presence includes its main facility, three satellite public housing centers, and a new Wellness Center that collectively host programs, services, and community events that support/serve over 5,000 people across Washtenaw County each year.
Peace is currently developing a new 8,000 square foot multi-use HUB Community Resource Center in Ypsilanti Township—a welcoming place that will help over 3,900 residents who live in three surrounding underserved neighborhoods improve their quality of life & well-being, and help them strengthen their neighborhoods. The HUB will partner with local Washtenaw County agencies to provide equitable access to a range of community resources, programs, and services, including: onsite case management services & emergency assistance; weekly community meals; a food pantry with expanded access to wider selection of affordable healthy food; housing support; educational support & mentorship for youth; workforce training for young adults; educational workshops; programs for seniors; community gardens; violence prevention; and more. All to help address residents’ needs and priorities for their communities.
