Policy & Legislative Affairs
Duties
The Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs (OPLA) coordinates legislative activity for the Department and serves as a resource for the legislature. OPLA’s goal is to support the efforts of the Department and its bureaus to improve the delivery of services to the public, reduce unnecessary rules and regulations, and strengthen the framework of laws relating to regulatory affairs.
OPLA also coordinates all departmental rule promulgation activity under the provisions of Executive Order 1995-6.
If you are with a legislative office, please contact OPLA here for legislative and constituent inquiries.
Condominiums
The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs does not have authority to enforce the provisions of the Condominium Act or the Administrative Rules. The responsibilities of the Department are:
- To create the Condominium Buyers Handbook
- To forward complaints to the developer
- To provide the complainant with information on the remedies that are available to them through the Condominium Act.
