Her core initiatives are based on her promise to Michigan’s residents — to give the Department of Attorney General back to the people that it serves.
Expungements
A past mistake shouldn’t define your future. Michigan’s 2019 Clean Slate law, drafted by AG Nessel, has given over a million Michiganders a fresh start by expunging prior convictions from their record.

File a Complaint
The Consumer Protection, Child Support, Financial Crimes, and Health Care Fraud Divisions of the Attorney General's office help consumers each year by mediating complaints that fall within our jurisdiction.
Please refer to the complaint directory before submitting a complaint to avoid unnecessary delays in processing.
Your Connection to Consumer Protection
The Consumer Protection Team helps protect Michigan residents from bad actors who have one primary goal: to trick us out of our hard-earned money. As technology advances, they get more creative with their approach. They prey on anyone vulnerable - especially seniors.
Consumer Protection handles 10,000 consumer complaints each year, provides numerous educational resources online, and issues consumer alerts on scams, data breaches and any other consumer-related issue our residents should be aware of.
