LANSING – Taking steps to ensure clean, reliable and affordable energy, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel Thursday intervened in the Indiana Michigan Power Company’s (I&M) Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) pending before the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC).
As required by statute, I&M filed its IRP detailing the five-, 10- and 15-year projections for its energy needs and how it plans to meet those needs. Similar to the IRPs filed by Consumers Energy and DTE Electric Company, I&M is required to review its current generation, forecast its future energy needs and outline what power plants might retire and how it will make up that lost energy supply.
“I intend to review every detail of I&M’s IRP application and engage other environmental and consumer advocacy partners to ensure affordable, reliable and renewable energy products are the company’s top priority,” said Nessel. “I look forward to working with all interested parties in this case to ensure the protection and preservation of our state’s environment and provide a cleaner future for generations to come.”
I&M serves approximately 129,000 retail electric customers in southwestern Michigan, including residents in Allegan, Berrien, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, and Van Buren counties.
