WHEREAS, Michigan is defined as a welcoming beacon of opportunity where anyone, no matter who they are or where they come from, can succeed; and,

WHEREAS, Michigan must continue supporting the rights of every resident to live as their authentic self and pursue education and economic opportunity free from prejudice and discrimination, especially amid a nationwide attack on the LGBTQ+ community; and,

WHEREAS, on March 31, the Human Rights Campaign and other organizations celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility; and,

WHEREAS, transgender people are a diverse community, representing all racial and ethnic backgrounds as well as all faith traditions; and,

WHEREAS, Transgender Day of Visibility allows us all to honor the joy and resilience of transgender people everywhere and elevate and celebrate their voices, perspectives, and power;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2025, as Transgender Day of Visibility in Michigan.
