File by Mail

There are different mailing addresses depending on whether tax is owed or not:

  • If you have a refund, a credit, or no amount due, mail your return to:
    Michigan Department of Treasury
    Lansing, MI 48956
  • If you owe taxes, mail your return to:
    Michigan Department of Treasury
    Lansing, MI 48929

Pay by check: Make your check payable to "State of Michigan" and print the last four digits of your Social Security number as well as the tax year and "income tax" on the front of the check.
