Technical Steps to Close a License with the CRA

How to properly close a licensed marijuana business with the Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA). 

Steps to Close a License:

  1. All harvest batches (cultivators and microbusinesses) must be packaged and marked as finished in Metrc.
  2. All transfer manifests must be cleared meaning no pending incoming or external transfers.
  3. All packages must have a zero quantity and finalized or be discontinued.
  4. All sales must be finalized and uploaded in Metrc (sales locations).
  5. All remaining product and/or plants must be destroyed or transferred. 
  6. The Licensee should print reports and inactive data from Metrc for their records. Once the license is closed, access to the license data is unavailable.
  7. Once the Metrc tasks are completed, please review and complete the Request to Close License Form. This form will be submitted to CRA-Compliance@michigan.gov.
